This workshop begins at the CIDAR, where we will visit the replica of a cist and the grave goods from the Chousa Nova burial mound (Silleda). Through these, we will learn more about ancient funerary contexts. Afterwards, students will put their acquired knowledge to the test by completing activity sheets and will create a "prehistoric" necklace inspired by the one found at Chousa Nova.

The discovery of fire and its 'domestication' completely changed the lives of our ancestors. It was a source of light and warmth, a symbol of protection, and a bond that strengthened social relationships; it allowed for cooking food and transforming materials to produce better tools. However, in those times, obtaining fire was not easy, so keeping it alive was a vital task. In this demonstration, we will show different techniques used in Prehistory to start a fire.

In this workshop, students will understand the importance of graphic, plastic, and visual language as a means of expression in Prehistory. They will explore various archaeological replicas and ultimately experience firsthand the diverse creative processes of Prehistory by finger painting on a paper mural.

• Learn about the basic tools used to create paintings in Prehistoric times.

• Produce, design, and compose, either individually or as a group, the stages of creating and executing a mural decoration.

• Strengthen creativity and manual dexterity.

This workshop focuses on discovering one of humanity's greatest inventions: pottery. An activity that, along with other technical innovations of farming and livestock societies, changed the course of history. Additionally, students will learn some of the techniques used in the making and decoration of typical Bronze Age pieces.

• Reproduce the stages of the creation and production process of a ceramic piece.

• Strengthen students' individual creativity and manual dexterity.

• Learn about, value, and respect the fundamental aspects of Neolithic and Bronze Age culture in Galicia.

This activity showcases the daily work of archaeologists in recording and documenting rock art in Galicia, offering a hands-on introduction to fieldwork in this discipline. Participants will create several tracings using various techniques, based on the petroglyph replicas found within the archaeological area.

• Acquire specific terminology.

• Understand, respect, and value the documentation and conservation of Rock Art.

• Perform various recording techniques to create an image of a carving.

This activity will allow students to expand and consolidate the knowledge acquired during their visit to the Park. By following a series of questions and clues, they will explore the Archaeological Area, visiting different zones. This itinerary also offers the chance to observe the PAAR landscape, deepening their understanding of the environment and the natural context that gives meaning to the carvings.

• Observe and discover the Park's natural surroundings.

• Strengthen group dynamics and teamwork to achieve a common goal.

Through various replicas and characteristic objects, students will discover the evolution of hunting techniques in Prehistory, practicing their aim by using the assegai and the spear-thrower.

• Gain an insight into different periods of Prehistory through the hunting techniques used by human beings.

• Develop concentration and manual skills.

• Understand and learn about the stages of cultural evolution through the tools used for this activity.

With this activity, students will be able to delve deeper into the evolution of textiles throughout Prehistory, focusing especially on the changes that occurred during the Neolithic. They will learn how to craft a fabric using a small individual loom and create a bracelet.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the stages of the clothing production process throughout Prehistory.

• Strengthen students' individual creativity and manual dexterity, as well as their ability to work in a collective and collaborative manner.

• Learn about and value the fundamental aspects of the introduction of agriculture and livestock, primarily regarding the secondary products revolution.

Highlighting the value of women's work in farming and livestock-rearing societies. At the same time, their role in the growth and maintenance of the group, as well as in the evolution of society, will be explained. Students will have to analyze the shift in female roles and propose ideas to improve the exhibition.

• Gain an insight into the lives of women in Prehistory.

• Acquire specific vocabulary.

• Reflect on the differences between women in Prehistory and today, as well as the gender roles depicted in the PAAR permanent exhibition.

Throughout Prehistory, we find various artistic expressions: paintings, engravings, and sculptures. These appear in different spaces and on various surfaces: caves, rock shelters, open-air rocks, and objects. In this exhibition, we will take a brief look at the most prominent styles and artistic representations of Prehistory. We will also demonstrate how pigments were created and reproduce some of the techniques used.
